This print commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Blue Hill Fair in 1991. The first fair was held in 1891
and has been a popular destination of locals and tourists alike in Downeast Maine. The fair is known for its
beautiful location in fields below Blue Hill, the hill whose town bears the same name. Among the many traditional
festivities on the fairgrounds are the yearly oxen-pulling competitions and sheepdog trials, which attract competitors
from all over New England. The painting The Blue Hill Fair was completed in 1990. It is one of Paul Alexandre
John's most famous works and was reproduced in Paintings of Maine (Down East Books, 2006). The print is 22¼
