In 2002, Paul Alexandre John released his third album,
Dusk Monsoon, which reunited him with tabla player Ray Spiegel who produced,
and edited the album as well. The album's title is derived from the two ragas that
comprise a majority of the disc. The disc opens with a dusk raga, Shree and
is followed by the rain raga, Mian ki Malhar. To conclude, there is a
Nomadic Melody which is inspired by the desert nomads and is played in a fast
seven-beat rhythm. Dusk Monsoon received recognition on numerous world music
charts after its release and was lauded as one the best pure Indian classical music
albums released in 2002.
